Who we are · Quiénes somos

An open coalition of parents and neighbors.

Newburgh Plays is an open coalition of Newburgh parents, neighbors, and partner organizations. We started the working group because the City's largest park lost both of its small playgrounds last year and nobody was leading the work to bring play back.

We are independent of any one organization, agency, or political term. We are growing the working group actively now, and we hope to meet regularly in person as the group gets larger. New members are always welcome.

One of the most concrete things you can do this month is take the Delano-Hitch survey. Your answers go directly to the playground designers.

The working group

Informal now. Growing toward something more.

For now we are a small group of parents and neighbors meeting and talking about how to bring play back to every Newburgh playground. We need more volunteers to join us. As we gain momentum we hope to move toward becoming a more official group, so we can eventually accept tax-deductible donations, pursue grants on a longer horizon, and partner more deeply with established 501(c)(3)s already doing this work, like the Greater Newburgh Parks Conservancy and Outdoor Promise.
