Core leaders

Run the working group.

A small group meets weekly to set the agenda, run the politics, and keep the campaign honest. We need three or four more residents in the room. A few hours a week, ongoing.

You do not need a title. You need stamina, judgement, and a phone you answer.

Park advocates

One resident per playground.

Each park needs a neighbor who knows it, uses it, and is willing to be its voice. You set the issues list, you walk it with the City, you show up when it matters.

Real jobs, with real time commitments. None of this is hypothetical. Every line is something we need this season.

Organize and raise money

Plan a fundraiser. A benefit dinner, a 5k, a concert at the Armory.
Identify grants we can chase. State, county, foundation, federal.
Help write grant copy and edit drafts.
Coordinate with our fiscal-sponsor partners while we are pre-501(c)(3).

Politics and connections

Speak at City Council meetings. Two minutes is enough.
Talk to your council member. Email, call, knock.
Open the door to the Newburgh Enlarged City School District.
Connect us to a faith leader, a business owner, a block association.

Outreach and storytelling

Run our Instagram or Facebook for a month at a time.
Take real photos at events. We will use them across the site.
Design a flyer. Put it up on your block, in your church, at the bodega.
Translate updates into Spanish so nothing reads like a courtesy line.

On the ground

Show up to a cleanup. Bring gloves, bring a kid.
Plant flowers and landscaping. Every park, every spring.
Help on build days when a playground breaks ground.
Long-term: help maintain what gets built, season after season.

This is years of work.

The Delano-Hitch grant decision lands in August 2026. That is the first big thing. After that, four more parks, plus the playground that gets built has to be cared for season after season.

We will tell you what changes when it changes. We will not pretend it is finished when it is not. Volunteers stay for as long as it takes.
